Falling Into Fun

Summer has officially ended and fall has arrived. That means there are only a few more months left in the year before CCU's Young Savers turn in their stamped cards for their bonus deposit! If you haven't already signed up to be a young saver, now is a great time! Just call or visit either office and let the staff know you would like to be a Young Saver. By signing up now, you are sure to receive your 2008 young savers card in January so you can be on your way to saving and receiving your bonus deposit.

Fall is a great time for having fun! Pumpkins and apples are just right for picking in the fall. Visit a pumpkin patch in your area, take a hayride, or visit a corn maze. And what about Halloween? Instead of buying a costume, work with an adult and make one! Here are some fun and easy suggestions and how to create them.

Pop, Pop, Pop!

Get a big box the you can fit your legs and body into and cut off the top and bottom of the box. Attach some shoulder straps to the box so that it can hang over your shoulder.

Decorate the box with red and yellow stripes and write "POPCORN" in bold, black letters across the front. Blow up light yellow balloons and fill the box with the balloons. YUM!

Be a Bunch of Grapes!

Inflated purple balloons pinned with safety pins to clothing work really well for this. Have an adult help you pin the balloons and make a stem for your head from green or brown felt.

Gumballs Anyone?
This is similar to the grape concept except you use multicolored balloons and a clear garbage bag. Cut a hole at the bottom of the bag for your head to go through and then fill it with the blown up colored balloons from the bottom. Tie or hook the bag between your legs and call yourself a bag of gumballs!
Out for a Picnic...
A red and white checkered tablecloth works great for this one. Cut a hole that your head can fit through and then glue or tape paper plates, cups, and plastic silverware to both side of the tablecloth. Make it even better by including some plastic ants!
Ok, young savers, now that you are in the mood for Halloween, visit either CCU office on Thursday, October 18 (International Credit Union Day) and decorate a pumpkin to take home.

Keep saving and don't forget to turn in your stamped young savers card in December!
